CAWould you do this job?
In this reel, one man appears to have the easiest job in motorsport. Just press a single button to start a Formula 1 race. But behind that simple action is one of the most high pressure roles in racing. Christian Bryll, the former F1 Permanent Starter, was responsible for releasing twenty cars worth millions of dollars onto the grid at the exact right moment.
His job was not just pressing a button. He had to watch every car, every driver, and every signal in real time. If a driver stalled, moved early, or a safety issue appeared, he had to abort the start in a split second. One wrong call could mean chaos on the grid.
Today, the role has passed to Rebecca Lee, but the pressure remains the same. Massive responsibility, intense focus, and no room for mistakes. It proves that sometimes the simplest looking jobs carry the heaviest weight.
