Do I think a MAJORITY of persistent GI and hormonal symptoms could be solved with an intentional focus on nutrition, movement, and lifestyle changes, without running a handful different labs? 100%. Do I think that functional lab tests help SO many people who don’t even realize how stressed they are, come to that realization and finally be able to take actionable steps towards reducing that stress and therefore, healing their persistent symptoms once and for all, WITHOUT the trial and error? Absolutely I do. I’m the perfect example of this. I’ve struggled with anxiety since I can remember, it’s just been a part of how I think and who I am. So in my adult life, I feel that I can really differentiate when I “feel” stressed out vs when I don’t. But what if my natural state of being is at a higher level of stress than what’s considered healthy? What if my body is just so used to feeling some semblance of stress every single day that I don’t even REALIZE I’m dealing with stress until it gets taken to the next level? My friend and colleague would ask “are you stressed?” When I would talk about my symptoms and I would immediately say “no” not realizing that I was actually just SO accustomed to BEING stressed. It wasn’t until I got my own functional labs done and took an even deeper look at my ability to handle stress that my blinders were removed. I was a very stressed out person. This is the case for so many people. It’s hard to recognize the stress our body is feeling when we’re so used to feeling this way every single day. When I have a client that comes back to me after we cleared their symptoms, or I have a client that is really struggling to heal no matter what we do, it’s almost ALWAYS because they aren’t fully aware of their stress level. THAT is why I will always believe in testing not guessing. Stress isn’t just having a bad day at work or dealing with financial problems, stress is in our every single day nowadays - it’s so important to check in with your body about how it’s handling that. #functionalhealthpractitioner #fdnp #stress #functionallabs

While there are MANY supplements that are beneficial to MOST… I have 2 main points here: 1. Supplements should never be the starting point 2. Everyone has unique genetics, family history, lifestyle, environment, etc. I can’t tell you how many of my clients have told me one of the following statements: “I just bought a bunch of supplements because of Instagram ads and podcasts” “I feel overwhelmed and I don’t know what my body needs” “I’ve been taking a few supplements for years but have no idea if they’re helping” It can be exhausting and a waste of money if you don’t have a reason for buying them or if they’re not the right ones for you! In my program, we use functional lab testing to see which areas of the body needs support or stimulation to help your body find balance again - and then strategically add in the supplements that will move the needle the most. Some may be short term support or recommended for longer term maintenance. But we do this AFTER or alongside working on ALLL other areas: nutrition, environment, sleep, stress, etc. Because you truly cannot out-supplement health.
