THThe first nine days of pregnancy happen mostly before a woman even knows she’s pregnant. After fertilization, the egg begins dividing into cells as it travels down the fallopian tube toward the uterus. During this time, it forms a tiny cluster called a blastocyst. Around days 6 to 9, this blastocyst implants itself into the lining of the uterus, which is the true start of pregnancy. Hormonal changes begin immediately, but physical symptoms are usually very mild or nonexistent. These early days are focused on cell growth and implantation, laying the foundation for the weeks of development that follow.
