"Visualization of the Irrationality of the Golden Ratio" 300k+ frames in 90 seconds Ever since my recent pi video went viral, I have been working on this phi video. I'm so excited to present it to you! I hope you like this! It took me around two weeks from scripting , coding and rendering. The simulation itself is easy since I make it with coding , but controlling slow-motion , zoom and camera shift by manipulating variables , is the hardest part which took me countless tries to be done perfectly ! I made this animation with programming on python with "matplotlib" library. Matplotlib library is used vastly to plot all kind of graphs. Music : "Can you hear the music" by ludwig göransson from Oppenheimer Explanation : The graph is visualized on complex plane, Here is the function : z(θ)=e^(θi) + e^(golden_ratio⋅θi) θ = Angle made by the Inner Arm e = Euler's constant i = Imaginary number The first half of the equation e^θi represents the inner arm and second half of the equation represents the outer arm. The outer arm spins at the relative speed of golden ratio times faster than the inner arm, Since the golden ratio is an irrational number with infinite decimal points, ideally it is impossible for the point to ever rest on the same place, hence the line would ideally never ever connect. In ideal world of maths lines have zero thickness. Also we can't use infinite digits with the function ( computers have limitations ), so the more digits we use, the more time it takes for the lines to connect.
