First Generation Computers (1940–1956)
First generation computers were the earliest computers and used vacuum tubes for processing. They were very large in size, consumed a lot of electricity, and produced excessive heat. These computers were slow, expensive, and could only perform basic calculations. Programming was done using machine language, and examples include ENIAC and UNIVAC.
