KA🎄FIXMAS DAY 11: HOLDING A CAR SEAT🎄
🐣This one’s for the mamas, the papas, the grandparents and the whole village it takes to help raise a little one.
😩Those car seats are heavy and it can really hurt your back, pelvic floor, and abdomen to carry around - especially during early postpartum recovery time.
🤫We don’t see enough people doing this so we want to share our not so secret secret to ergonomically and (hopefully) more comfortably holding that car seat!
1️⃣Start with the car seat on the floor and move into a stable lunge form next to it - this may be a challenge if you have Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction so if that’s the case, start with the car seat on a stable chair at about hip height.
2️⃣With the baby strapped in and facing you, wrap your arm under the handle and grab the base of the handle - some car seats even have a divet underneath for better grip!
3️⃣While firmly holding the car seat in this position, focus on putting weight in your front foot while pushing up with you back foot just like a lunge. Squeeze for butt to recruit those glute muscles for more control!
