POScenes from the Ribbit and Resist ICE protest in Portland, Oregon 🐸
No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, you probably want to be in the middle of a giant frog dance.
The Portland Frog Brigade debuted their Original Portland Frog Dance on Saturday night, under the bright lights of South Portland Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
10-15 people in inflatable frogs performed an admittedly not-very-synchronized dance to an original track about the Portland Frog phenomenon, “We’re the Frogs” by Delanae Elle Eanaled.
Will, an organizer with the Frog Brigade, told the Mercury that the costumed dancers had practiced the dance only that very day and for “not very long.” The dance consisted of “moves someone could make in a frog costume.”
“We’re spinning one up in Minneapolis—creating kits that show people how to set up their own surreal brigade,” he said. Frog fans can expect another public appearance soon, but no promise for better dance moves.
On their website, @portlandfrogbrigade writes: History shows that absurdity cuts through insanity, and that joy, creativity, education and community expose the moral bankruptcy of authoritarianism more effectively than anger alone.
