WIIt’s ideal to have 2 concealers - 1 of your exact shade for concealing & another concealer that’s 1/2 shades lighter to brighten. But not everybody wants to buy 2 concealers. So you can also use a full coverage foundation instead of an exact shade concealer. Which means you’ll only need to buy 1 concealer which is 1 or 2 shades lighter.
Using a lighter concealer without using an exact shade under it will make your undereyes look ashy (this is applicable to people with prominent dark circles).
Needless to say, if you don’t have much dark circles or your undereyes are flat, you need only 1 lighter concealer to brighten up undereyes.
People have different styles of wearing makeup, this is mine. I like the concealer to match the skin exactly. Some people like using a lighter concealers but I personally don’t because when you set it with a powder it anyway brightens up a bit!
IMPORTANT NOTE - concealers oxidise if you don’t set them quickly, so while buying your shade from a store at the mall, try two shades, wear them for a bit, roam around, and see which one matches you better after oxidisation. No point buying a shade that’s your exact shade when you apply it but becomes darker 20 minutes later.
