Dr. Natasha is clearing up a few common misconceptions about vegan/vegetarian diets and animal fats on the GAPS Diet: ✅Vegetarian and/or vegan diets are harmful to the human body as they starve our body of the nutrients it needs to repair and remain strong, which come from animal fats and proteins. Plant foods are unable to provide us with enough amino acids suitable for building collagen. ✅Animal fats are essential for building and maintaining the body’s physical structure. They are the best for providing the body with the proper nutrients to restore the gut, immunity, and nervous system. Animal fats promote healing and are easy to digest, making them a great source of energy and nutrients needed by the body. For GAPS individuals, consuming more animal fats leads to quicker recovery. ✅Vegetable oils are full of damaged fatty acids and have been linked to many illnesses, as they damage the psychological structure of the body. To make vegetable oils solid and increase their shelf life, they are hydrogenated, which involves adding hydrogen molecules to the chemical structure under high pressure and high temperatures in the presence of toxic metals. Remnants of these metals stay in the hydrogenated oils like nickel and aluminum, which add to the toxic load of the body, causing degenerative conditions and chronic disease. Here is what I cook for GAPS clients, a diet designed specifically to help heal the gut. I went on the GAPS Diet myself when I was healing from Lyme disease, and it played a big role in helping me reverse many of my symptoms and rebuild my gut health. ✔️One of the biggest concerns people have about the GAPS Diet is that it takes too much time since everything is made from scratch. But batch-style cooking makes it much more manageable. This is generally how I used to prep my meals when I was on the GAPS Diet, and it’s the same style of cooking I now use for my clients. ✔️The foundation always starts with a meat stock. This is different from bone broth because it uses more meat and gently extracts proteins, cartilage, and connective tissue from the meat and bones, which helps support gut lining healing. A whole chicken is perfect for this, but you can also use a bone-in roast or any large cuts of meat, preferably bone-in. ✔️Next, I prepare a large roast so there is plenty of easy-to-digest protein ready for meals. If the client can tolerate vegetables, I’ll roast them in ghee. For this batch, I made roasted zucchini with thyme. ✔️I also always prepare a blended soup. Blended soups are one of my favorite foods for gut healing because they’re made with meat stock, which is incredibly nourishing, but they’re also very easy to digest and can help reduce bloating. For this one, I made carrot-ginger butternut squash soup, roasting a whole squash from scratch rather than using canned squash. Then everything gets packaged and delivered! Welcome to our unofficial GAPS-ish diet journey!! We are officially starting up a big dietary change for health reasons. Nothing serious, but we've been experiencing some chronic fatigue, migraines, sugar addiction, blood sugar dysregulation, mood instability, and just poor immune system - in 2024 we caught a cold/flu at least once every single month. Isaac did this diet to the full extreme (for a time, the no-plant version, which literally means consuming NO plant matter whatsoever.) when he was suffering from severe Lyme Disease, and it radically healed him! I never fully embraced the GAPS diet, but I've known I'm a "GAPS person" (someone who sees symptoms of Gut and Physiology Syndrome) for many years. So... I'm not exactly sure what sparked this, but here we are. I know many people have heard of the incredible healing abilities of Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride's diet, but most people are terrified to try it because it's so "restrictive" and "extreme". For those who are using GAPS diet to heal a severe illness - autism, schizophrenia, cancer, autoimmune disease, PCOS/infertility, alcoholism, IBS, etc - I would recommend following her protocol *to a T* by going through each of the stages. But I'm hoping that expanding my content to share a little more of our journey of going from good to great health, using super practical and easy recipes & tips, will be inspiring and help normalize this way of eating for people! Please feel free to drop ANY questions you have in the comments, I'd love to chat with you about this diet/lifestyle change! Here's what we will no longer be eating: 🚫Any grains or products made fr grains 🚫Any sugar / crystalized sweeteners 🚫Most fruits 🚫Almost all vegetables 🚫Beans, legumes, nuts 🚫Anything processed with artificial ingredients It basically leaves meat, dairy, a few (fermented or not) vegetables, eggs, some fruit, broth, honey, & maple syrup. I'm also taking some personal liberties on things like raw cacao, coffee, and a few other high quality items that I know agree with me 💗 Wish us luck!! 🥰

Let that sink in… farm food plus peanut butter and avocados. I’m in for life. Seriously, if I could only have two foods I didn’t grow it would be peanut butter and advacodos. Wait! No that’s a lie. It would be dark chocolate and peanut butter. But if I could have three, I’d add avocados. So does anyone know, does GAPS allow dark chocolate!? Well, don’t answer that… I don’t care, I’m gonna intro it eventually and see how it goes. GAPS serves me, I don’t serve GAPS.
