VEHatlabs HALMET board in action. This is my personal project to capture air quality in the engine room, temperature readings of exhaust and alternator, as well as counting engine uptime, coolant temperature, RPM, oil pressure, and engine room temperature and humidity. All stored locally in a time series database (InfluxDB) as well as persisting in Signalk for dashboard and chartplotter display. IP68 junction box and wire glands to protect from moisture, and powered from the ignition.

🧭 Magnetometer Calibration | Compass Accuracy Check
Make your GPS heading more precise ⚓
Look at the lower right corner of the remote 👀
That number you see?
➡ It’s the magnetometer
➡ Also works as your built-in compass
🔹 Step 1 | Compare Directions
Open your Compass APP 📱
Place the phone parallel to the GPS head
Now check:
• Remote shows 101°
• Phone shows 104° or 97°
👉 Within ±10° = Normal ✅
No adjustment needed.
🔹 Step 2 | When Calibration Is Needed
If the numbers don’t match ❌
It’s time to calibrate 👇
Press the Menu button
Scroll down to Settings
Select Magnetometer Calibration
Press Confirm
🔹 Step 3 | Calibration in Progress
The motor will start to turn left and right automatically 🔄
⚙ This means calibration is running
Just wait until it finishes ✔
📌 Accurate magnetometer =
• Better GPS heading
• More stable positioning
• Easier control while fishing
