This quick excerpt shows different types of fuses you can create; the full lesson gets into the specifics of all 3 types of fuses & how to fire each one. The full lesson video is freely available on my site/YouTube (and @oceansidecompatible‘s) where all subsequent lessons will also be shared. In this one you’ll learn about the components of a firing schedule and special *hazard zone* temperature ranges where projects are most likely to crack. There are also several sample firing schedules provided in the supporting .pdf file that you can try out in your kiln! ❗Heads up that this lesson contains important firing graphs and charts. Even though these aren’t as thrilling as the more hands-on aspects of fusing, I purposely made them the focus of this early lesson because the biggest regret of MY learning process is that I dove right into fusing projects without understanding any of this first, which ended up causing major headaches and wasting tons of time, which all could’ve been avoided if I’d just taken the time to learn it correctly from the start. These quilt star coasters were some experiments in color theory, fusing schedules, and a new type of kiln paper. I’m not classifying any fuses as a ‘success’ or ‘failure’ yet because it’s all just practice and data to learn from 😗
