RJSome places are beautiful. Others are breathtaking.
Háifoss is both.
Towering at 122 meters, it’s one of Iceland’s highest waterfalls — but what makes it truly unforgettable is the raw drama of the landscape. Carved deep into a volcanic canyon, with its smaller twin Granni beside it, Háifoss roars with power while the wind carries its mist far into the valley.
Getting there isn’t hard — about a 2-hour drive from Reykjavík, followed by a short hike with mind-blowing views the entire way. We stood on the cliff’s edge in silence, just taking it all in.
And here’s a tip: if you’re already heading this way, don’t miss Gjáin, just down the road. These two places together make one of the most rewarding day trips you can take in south Iceland.
No crowds. No noise. Just nature at its most powerful.
