WAIs it blue+rose gold or grey+yellow gold? 🧐
Funny how the slightest shift in tone can change my perspective and taste for a watch! And that’s exactly what styling a watch — when done well — can do.
In my rush and excitement to unbox this 36mm @hamiltonwatch pilot, I prepped the strap I wanted to change it into based on how it was described on the site: blue dial and rose gold case.
Turns out, as some of you pointed out in the comments, the case isn’t quite rose gold and the dial isn’t even quite blue.
So here’s take 2. This time, I’ve swapped the clasp for a yellow gold one, which, admittedly still isn’t exactly the right tone, but it’s a lot closer. Then, instead of the navy blue strap, I’ve used a black pilot-style rubber CTS strap (from @delugs, of course!).
The big (little) shift here is that the black strap brings out the grey tones in the dial more and the yellow gold clasp immediately makes the case look even less rosey.
It’s a perspective change rather than an actual change, but it’s colour theory in action. It’s all relative!
What’s your take though? Is this watch actually blue and rose, or is it more grey and yellow gold?
