The 1.1-millimeter-thick devices use acrylic film membranes and stainless steel springs to convert electrical signals into precise tactile feedback, generating forces 780 times their weight while operating across frequencies from 0.1 to 500 Hz.
Users achieved 97% accuracy distinguishing textures and patterns in testing.
