Why get an MRI if the symptoms seem mild? Because some patients have hidden disc problems. Disc dehydration, bulges, or herniations can cause: • Flare-ups at the gym • Morning back pain • Pain that won’t improve with typical treatments These issues don’t always show up on X-rays but they appear clearly on MRI. Once the disc pressure is addressed, patients can finally move, bend, and exercise again. If your pain keeps coming back, it may be time to look deeper. #SpinalDecompressionTherapy #DiscHerniation #BackPainRelief #SpineHealth #MRIInsights

🚨 DISC HERNIATION? THERE MAY BE A NON-SURGICAL SOLUTION 🚨 That sharp pain down your leg… ⚡ The numbness or tingling in your arm or foot… The constant ache in your neck or low back… 👉 It could be a disc herniation. When a spinal disc bulges or herniates, it can press on nearby nerves — causing pain, weakness, and limited mobility. 🧠 WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW… Many disc injuries are treated with rest, meds, or injections… But those don’t address the root cause — pressure on the disc. 🎯 INTRODUCING ACCU-SPINA TRACTION At Bethesda Scoliosis& Posture, we use Accu-Spina® decompression traction — one of the most advanced, targeted traction systems available. ✅ Precisely targets the injured disc ✅ Gently relieves pressure on nerves ✅ Helps draw nutrients back into the disc ✅ Promotes healing without drugs or surgery Unlike generalized traction, Accu-Spina uses computer-controlled, oscillating traction to focus on the exact level of injury. 💥 CONDITIONS WE HELP WITH: 🦴 Herniated discs 🦴 Bulging discs 🦴 Sciatica 🦴 Degenerative disc disease 🦴 Chronic neck & low back pain 👨‍⚕️ WHY CHOOSE US? A herniated disc happens when the soft inner portion of a spinal disc pushes through the tougher outer layer and begins pressing on nearby nerves. The discs in your spine act like cushions between the vertebrae, helping absorb shock and allowing the back to move smoothly. When one of these discs bulges or ruptures, the leaked material can irritate or compress nerves, which is what causes the pain, tingling, or weakness many people feel. One of the most common symptoms of a herniated disc is sciatica, a sharp pain that travels from the lower back through the hips and down the leg when the sciatic nerve becomes compressed. Some people also experience numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness in the leg or foot. If the disc is located in the neck instead of the lower back, it can lead to radiculopathy, which causes pain, numbness, or weakness that travels into the shoulders, arms, or hands. Several factors can contribute to disc herniation. Aging naturally causes spinal discs to lose water and flexibility, making them easier to tear. Improper lifting techniques, trauma from falls or accidents, repetitive twisting movements, and lifestyle factors like smoking, obesity, or long periods of sitting can also increase the risk. The good news is that most cases improve without surgery. Studies show that over 90 percent of people recover with conservative treatment within four to six weeks. Resting briefly, avoiding heavy lifting, and gradually returning to movement can help the spine heal. Anti-inflammatory medications may reduce swelling and pain, while physical therapy strengthens the core and back muscles to reduce pressure on the spine. Some patients also benefit from epidural steroid injections that calm inflammation around irritated nerves. Surgery is usually considered only when symptoms continue for several weeks despite treatment or when serious warning signs appear, such as severe muscle weakness or loss of bladder or bowel control. In many cases, the body can slowly reabsorb the herniated disc material over time, allowing the nerve to recover and the pain to fade.

My MRI shows multiple disc bulges… What should I do now? A question I get almost every single day. And I get it. When you read words like “L4-L5,” “L5-S1,” or “disc herniation” it’s easy to panic. You start imagining the worst. You think you’re broken. You assume surgery is the only way out. But let me tell you what I tell everyone who comes to me: Disc bulges are more common than you think. In fact, many people have them and feel no pain at all. So why do you feel pain? Because something deeper is going on: → Your body might have a postural misalignment → There could be lack of space between your spinal discs → Some muscles may be over-lengthened or weak → And most importantly the disc may be pressing on a nerve That’s when pain shows up in your back, in your legs, and even in everyday movements. So, no surgery is not the only option. And it’s definitely not painkillers for life. Here’s what actually helps: → Identifying your root cause → Rebalancing posture and alignment → Using targeted movement to release pressure → Training your breath to support your spine and calm the nervous system This is what we do inside yoga therapy. This is how I’ve helped 2000+ people heal even with multiple disc bulges. So if your MRI scared you, pause. You are not your report. Most people obsess over the words “disc bulge” or “herniation” on their MRI. But in clinic, what I see driving symptoms is usually much simpler. 📌 The way your spine is loaded throughout the day. For desk-based professionals this often looks like: • long periods of sitting without breaks • repeated bending with poor load tolerance • never moving the spine into extension • avoiding movement during flare-ups Over time, these habits create constant low-grade irritation. Your MRI tells you what your spine looks like. Your habits determine how your spine is stressed every day. Fix the habits → symptoms usually start to settle. Save this and start paying attention to what your spine experiences daily. #disc #lowbackpain #discherniation #sciatica #sciaticarelief

5 “silly” habits that keep disc herniations pain-free (from a spine specialist who’s helped hundreds of patients return to normal life) 1. Reset your spine directionally—often Not aggressive stretching. Not forcing movements. Just 1–2 minute directional resets sprinkled through the day — after a long call, before meals, between tasks. These gentle movements load the spine in the opposite direction of prolonged sitting, helping reduce disc stress and nerve irritation—before pain has a chance to build up. 2. Treat sitting tolerance like a symptom, not a challenge If you could sit for 40 minutes yesterday but only 20 today, that’s not “weakness.” That’s your disc telling you it’s overloaded. Ignoring this signal keeps flare-ups coming. Respecting it is how discs actually calm down and heal. 3. Raise your laptop. Save your discs. A low screen quietly forces neck flexion and spinal rounding for hours. That posture increases pressure on already irritated discs. Lift your laptop to chest or eye level—even a stack of books works. Less bending. Less compression. Less pain. 4. Strengthen your spine instead of protecting it forever Your disc herniation doesn’t mean your back is fragile. Avoiding back strength work is one of the biggest “silly” mistakes I see. Targeted strengthening builds tolerance, stability, and confidence—exactly what discs need for long-term recovery. 5. Stop pushing through pain when lifting Exercise is medicine—but dosage matters. Forcing lifts during a disc flare doesn’t build resilience; it prolongs irritation. Train within pain-free limits, progress gradually, and let your spine adapt safely. Living with disc pain all day doesn’t just affect your back. It drains your focus, energy, and belief in your body. And the truth is—you don’t have to accept that as your new normal. DM ‘BOOK’ to book your appointment with @surecure_orthospine_clinic !

His foot had been numb for 2 years. Nothing worked. Not therapy. Not injections. The MRI finally showed why: a disc herniation pressing directly on the nerve. That pressure was causing the numbness — even making it hard to feel the gas pedal while driving. Until the pressure on the nerve is reduced, you’re just chasing symptoms instead of fixing the cause. #SciaticaRelief #DiscHerniation #NervePain #SpinalDecompression #SpineHealth
