CHHocketing in music is the practice of splitting a melody across multiple parts. It dates back to the Middle Ages in Western music, but can also be found in music from all over the world. This exploration of the form by composer Meara O’Reilly (@mearao) was originally written for two voices, but here we are using 12! Fun fact: the word “hocket” is derived from the French word for hiccup (“hoquet”).
