GIT.B.T Wet welding….installing mounting plates for anodes. For some reason people associate commercial diving with underwater welding, but with the exception of ships husbandry and applications like this, it isn’t used that often. And I’ve never seen a wet welding done offshore. Also, a distinction has to be made between wet welding and hyperbaric welding. Wet welding carries all the hallmarks of top side stick welding, with a few differences, like polarity and the obvious, you’re under the water. Hyperbaric welding on the other hand involves a higher skill level and generally a bigger production as it involves a habitat being placed over the job site and the water being flushed out. Effectively providing a room under the ocean where a dive welder performs the weld under strict parameters. Dive welders will trains for weeks prior to performing a weld subsea and the difference between making the cut and being benched can be a few millimeters. A lot is made of the precision of brain surgery, but I would put the precision of a wet welder right up there. And no, I’m not a hyperbaric welder. #hairychestedknuckledraggingdeepseadiver #commercialdiver #deepseadiver #oilfielddiver #commercialdivelife #underwater #welding #kirbymorgan #bluecollarlife #diver #thursday #tbt #broco #airdiver
