Point is not just the ankle.❌ Many people think a pointed foot comes only from the ankle. But a true point is created through a sequence of coordinated movements. In this reel, I shared four steps to help you understand how a stronger, cleaner point is built. Sometimes improving a movement is simply about understanding the right order. Save this reel and practice the four steps. 🩰

Holding your turnout creates tension in the feet and knees that blocks what should be happening at the hips. Real rotation starts deep in the hip and travels down the leg. When everything works together, you stop fighting for it. DM me GROWTH to lern more.

Stop struggling with your side leg holds and start stretching with a purpose! If you want that “sky-high”extension but feel stuck or tight, this routine focuses on the specific muscle groups needed to unlock your range of motion. 🩰✨ In this video, we’re using dance science to prep the body for a better leg hold. We start with a baseline “Before” check, then move through a targeted sequence: -Half Frog (for hip mobility) -Hamstring Stretches (for back-of-leg length), and -Pigeon (for glute and hip release). Stay until the end to see the “After” result - you’ll be surprised how much a science-backed stretch sequence can change your lines! Comment CHANNEL on this video to watch the whole thing and follow along with the exercises!

That deep pain behind your ankle, under your foot, or on your calf that shows up in relevé, pointe, jumps, or bourrées? It’s very often FHL, not your Achilles tendon. Quick homework: 👉 take a moment to Google your FHL and actually see where it runs. Once you visualize it, this pain suddenly makes a lot more sense. This muscle works overtime every time you: • push off the floor • grip your toes • live in extreme plantarflexion Stretching can help calm it down — but if you don’t fix why it’s overworking, it’ll keep coming back. I suggest a 1 minute static stretch when you are done dancing ✅ If you want training tips and guidance like this, built specifically for dancers, comment APP below and I’ll get you set up. 🩰🔥 Save this. Share it with the dancer who keeps icing their “Achilles.” 👀

Working on lengthening and strengthening the supporting leg in this exercises by using the muscles of the thigh, particularly the VMO, to support the knee rather than allow it to lock back into hyperextension. Notice the difference in the two clips? Great work here from @conniebell2872 who as you can see has quite a lot of hyperextension in the knees. Working this way will prevent injury and achieve true technical stability. Note- we are not bending the knees, but engaging muscles to support them. Do you ever struggle to stand in first position without your calves ‘fighting’ to be together? It may be because you have hyperextended knees. The real indicator of how powerful a dancer’s foot is going to be? It shows up before the foot is fully stretched. Not at the end of the tendu. Not in the full releve. You can see it in the lower leg long before the shape unfolds. Watch the green panel. When the Achilles is actively working through the lower leg, the calf creates a subtle “shelf.” That shelf tells you the dancer is articulating the entire foot through the lower leg— not just pointing from the ankle down. It tells you the ankle mobility isn’t being cut off. It tells you power is building from the ground up. If that activation isn’t there early, the finished stretch doesn’t matter. Because power isn’t something you add at the end. It’s something you can predict in the process. This is what we train teachers to see at RM Live — how to read the body before the trick, before the jump, before the turn. How to coach the anatomy, not just the outcome. We have 2 weeks left of Early Bird pricing. Comment or DM us “Live” and we’ll send you the details.

Want a deeper plié? Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a gentle, active mobility method that uses your own muscle contractions to safely improve range of motion—without forcing a stretch. For adult ballet dancers, MET is especially effective for tight Achilles and posterior leg muscles, helping you access deeper pliés, improve ankle mobility, and support lower-leg recovery while protecting joints and tendons. Instead of pushing past resistance, MET works with your nervous system to create lasting, controlled flexibility. I use techniques like this throughout my Mobility & Flexibility course on the Veronica K Platform, which has been fully updated this year to reflect the latest in ballet corrective exercise and dance medicine principles. Every class is designed to help dancers move more efficiently, reduce injury risk, and build longevity—so you can stay Safer, Stronger, and dancing longer, no matter your age or stage.
