THThis is NOT chia seed pudding…
This is aleev (halim) kheer — India’s own iron-rich superfood dessert 🤍
Aleev seeds are naturally rich in iron and folate, traditionally consumed to support hormonal balance and strength, especially during postpartum recovery. In many Indian homes, this kheer is given to new mothers as a nourishing, rebuilding food.
Recipe (1–2 servings):
• 30g aleev seeds
• 130g water (for soaking)
• 4 tbsp jaggery (adjust to taste)
• 1 tsp cardamom + nutmeg powder
• 2–2.5 cups milk
Please note that these measurements are for a minimum of 8 servings. Consume in moderation.
Soak aleev seeds in water for 30 minutes until they swell.
In a pan, add jaggery and the soaked aleev seeds and roast gently.
Add cardamom and nutmeg powder.
Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool slightly (important before adding milk).
Add milk, mix well, and serve chilled.
Rooted in tradition, simple ingredients, deeply nourishing 🤍
Save this for when you want dessert with purpose.
