Just to be perfectly clear I have been diagnosed by a professional. BUT here are some reasons people don’t get/aren’t diagnosed by a professional: 👉 there’s a huge waiting list and they are waiting for it to happen 👉 they don’t have a spare $3000 to get a diagnosis (yes it can cost that much, sometimes more!) 👉 they don’t see the point to an official diagnosis since it’s not like you get given any medication or anything, it’s just more a confirmation of your suspicions and maybe *maybe* some accommodations at work 👉 some countries will ban you from immigrating if you officially have autism on your medical records 👉 some governments make life harder for autistics (I know the Australian government was considering making autistic folks pass an extra driving test on top of the normal one) The list goes on!! Most people do not just see one tiktok and assume they are autistic. Yes, that is ridiculous, so stop assuming we do it. There is months of research that goes into coming to this conclusion, and professionals have even come to the conclusion that we are actually pretty good at recognising it in ourselves (cause let’s not forget the lifetime of feeling like an outsider as well!) #autism #selfdiagnosis #selfdiagnosedautism #autistic #actuallyautistic

I moved to the U.S. alone in 2021 with only $1,000 in my pocket. Like all immigrants, I faced many challenges, but I never felt like I was struggling and still have no complaints about American life. Here’s why: ☑️ I don’t stick to Russian/Ukrainian-speaking communities. If you do, it will feel like you never left your country—so what’s the point of immigrating? Just for a change of scenery? ☑️ My friends are mostly American English and Latin American speakers or friends who speak Russian but grow up in the US. Different mentalities help with adaptation. Can’t get along with them? Your community will support you, but again—why move here if you only want to stay within your own culture? By the way, most Slavic people don’t like Latin music, I actually enjoy reggaeton and can dance bachata and salsa. I understand and respect the culture, so I can go to any bar without feeling out of place—and without complaining. ☑️ I speak English more than Russian in daily life. My friends are native speakers, and my job requires it. Language skills help you stay on top of things—slang, jokes, news, etc. ☑️ I understand and respect the principles of American business. I accept that things are overpriced, I understand tax system and that certain rules here are different from those in my home country, if you understand it, you use it as advantage. ☑️ Most importantly, I have wanted to live in America since I was a kid. It was my dream. What others see as downsides of living here mean nothing to me compared to the fact that I made it. From the moment I first stepped onto this continent, I have never felt disappointed. I love this country as much as my home country. If you don’t, you’ll struggle and complain your entire life here. I believe the key is to be open-minded, try new things, understand them, use them to your advantage, and think ahead before taking action. Immigration is hard, but as soon as you start seeing opportunities, your struggles become just the next step toward the life you want. That’s up to you to reflect on.

I Found My American 🇺🇸 Dream in Germany 🇩🇪 I found my American dream in Germany. No, my life is not perfect in Germany, but it’s a hell of a lot better than it used to be. I wrote this a little over a year after immigrating, and I stand by every word ✨ Criticism + Advocacy=Change ✨If we know what our options are for change and how things could be better, we can improve for everyone. For clarity, the first 4 years after I migrated, we made about as much as I was making alone in the USA. My son wore school uniforms because he went to a tuition-free charter school that required them. My mortgage was high because ALL mortgage interest rates were high at the time (especially in comparison to Germany).

Many have asked about moving/immigrating to the U.K. so here is a brief overview of how we are doing it. It is not a simple process nor is it a “one size fits all” approach. Fortunately we were able to take our time and move through each step of the process at our own pace. #NEWS - Tensions are rising in Mexico City as rioters demand that Americans stop immigrating and “stop stealing” their homes. Locals are outraged, accusing Americans of “imposing their culture” and gentrifying entire neighborhoods. Some have gone as far as calling for violence against “gringos,” while others are simply telling them to “get out of Mexico.” Since the pandemic, Mexico City has become a hotspot for American digital nomads, sparking a wave of resentment from longtime residents. “Mexico City is going through a transformation. There are a lot of foreigners, namely Americans, coming to live here,” said one local. (via dw news)
