ANSleep anxiety.
Yeah, sleep is important—but the more we stress about not sleeping, the harder it becomes. When we go to bed with pressure and expectation, we’re already in a hyper-alert state, making sleep even more elusive.
For many with anxiety, the fixation on trying to relax actually keeps them stuck. My advice? Go towards the fear. The anxious mind tells you that a bad night’s sleep means you won’t cope the next day—but some of the best days you’ll have come after little or no sleep.
Don’t let your fear of fear become all about fixing sleep. Let go of the battle. Instead, say to yourself: If I sleep, great. If I don’t sleep, that’s also okay. But what I am going to focus on is rest and relaxation.
