THIntegrals are the mathematical formalization of finding the exact area under a curve by summing an infinite number of infinitesimally small rectangles. This concept begins with discretization, where the area is approximated by dividing the interval into finite rectangles, as in Riemann sums. Each rectangle’s width represents a small segment of the interval, dx, while its height corresponds to the function’s value at that point, f(x). As the width of the rectangles approaches zero, the sum of their areas becomes a precise measure of the total area, which is the integral.
