NAInteroception is our body’s way of recognizing internal sensations and emotions. It allows us to identify when we are hungry, sleepy, anxious, and more so that we can respond appropriately. At times, identifying these internal sensations can be challenging. Incorporating interoception-based activities would benefit children (and adults) to increase awareness in this area. As shown in this reel, body experiments focus on specific body parts by using movements/sensations to generate a response. We start furthest away from the body and work our way closer to our center and internal organs. Children are encouraged to express how their body feels after each experiment with descriptive words (ex: wiggly, relaxed). The more we experiment in different areas, the larger our collection of sensations grow.
