ENJim Simons didn’t try to become a “great businessman.” He openly said he wouldn’t be good at running a traditional business - it would bore him. Instead, he leaned into what came naturally to him. From there, his philosophy was simple. Bring in exceptionally smart people, give them freedom, and create an open environment where ideas flow. At Renaissance, he avoided traditional Wall Street hires and focused on scientists and mathematicians, letting data and collaboration drive decisions.
