MZVW Golf III VR6. The VR6 engine was first produced in the early 1990s, in its application on the Golf 3 and Jetter 3 it came in either 2.8l or 2.9l guise. The VR6 is a bridge between a traditional V engine and an inline engine. It uses a much narrower gap between the two cylinder banks. A notable difference is that a traditional V6 uses 2 cylinder heads while the VR6 uses just one. This allowed VW to fit the much larger 6 cylinder engine to cars initially designed to hold 4 Cylinder. The combination of all this came out with a really unique sound not typically found in an in-line 6 or V6 set up.
