MUReleased in 2013, All of Me is a piano-led ballad by John Legend, written with Toby Gad and produced by Dave Tozer. It appears on Legend’s album Love in the Future and was inspired by his relationship with model and author Chrissy Teigen, whom he met in 2007 and married in 2013.
Built around a minimalist arrangement in A-flat major, the song relies almost entirely on piano and vocal performance. Lyrically, it centers on loving someone completely — embracing imperfections and giving oneself fully to a partner.
Released in August 2013, the song gained momentum over time, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May 2014, ending a ten-week run at the top by Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” It also topped charts in multiple countries, including Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands.
The black-and-white music video, filmed in Italy shortly before Legend and Teigen’s wedding, features candid footage of the couple and has surpassed 1.9 billion views on YouTube.
“All of Me” became one of the best-selling digital singles of all time, earning multi-platinum certifications and establishing itself as a modern wedding staple. A remix by Tiësto won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording (Non-Classical) in 2015, while the original performance was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance the same year.
