THThat iconic whistle in Kill Bill? Wasn't even in the script.
Elle Driver walking down that hospital hallway in full nurse gear, eye patch on, whistling "Twisted Nerve." One of the most chilling scenes in the movie. Turns out, Daryl Hannah came up with it herself. She pitched the idea to Tarantino, suggesting they use the Bernard Herrmann track from a 1968 thriller, and he was immediately on board. Hannah practiced that whistle until she nailed it, and honestly? It shows.
Tarantino originally wanted to dub Pai Mei's dialogue in terrible English, like those old kung fu movies with awful lip-syncing. He was even going to do the voice himself. But he ended up scrapping the idea and let Gordon Liu speak in Cantonese with his real voice instead.
Kill Bill is full of these happy accidents and last-minute genius calls. How much would you rate it out of 10?
