✨If you’ve been dreaming about sewing a quilt jacket but feel a little nervous to start, you’re not alone. ✨After lots of searching, I gathered 6 quilt patterns that are trendy, have the right drape, and would be perfect for quilted jackets and coats—they’’re all officially on my to-make list!

Make a demo first. I used old towels (they’re thick like a quilt) so I could test the fit and construction before cutting into a precious quilt—and I’m so glad I did. It gave me the confidence to finally do it! ✨After my mock-up, I made three small but important changes:
1️⃣ Lengthened the sleeves and body hem about 3”
2️⃣ Gave the neckline a little more room (about 1” at the shoulders)
3️⃣ Added a scalloped hem by tracing a bowl and finishing it with bias binding to gently hug the curves ✨If sewing a quilt jacket is something you’ve been longing to try—but indecision or fear of choosing the wrong pattern has held you back—this is your sign. ✨I’ve gathered 6 great quilt jacket patterns so you don’t have to guess. PART ONE of turning a sweatshirt into a quilted jacket!!! Let’s start with the strips! This is where you can be really creative. You can use a jelly roll, scraps, or make a patchwork look like I did. Here is what I did: *Start with at least 12 fat quarters *Out of each fat quarter I cut one 4, 5, and 6 inch strip with about a 3 inch scrap (the 22inch length). *divide each with into piles, including 3 inch scrap. *Randomly pick a strip from each pile and sew together until you have used one of each width and made a new fat quarter. *Now cut across each new fat quarter to make patchwork strips. I cut 5 2inch and 4 2 1/2 inch strips from each fat quarter. *I then take 2 strips of the same width and sew them together to make a longer strip at least 26 inches long. *You will need at least 55-60 strips to cover a large sweatshirt. Now let’s cut apart the sweatshirt! *Start by turning the sweatshirt inside out and put a pin in the front to keep track of the front. *Cut off the cuffs, bottom and collar. This is why you will want to buy a sweatshirt at least one size bigger. *Then cut the seams of the sides, sleeves and shoulders. *Take the front piece and fold it in half and cut up the center of the front to have two pieces. Save this post and follow along for part 2 when we start attaching the strips to the sweatshirt 😃 #quilting #easyquiltedjacket #quiltedjacket #sewing

J’ai commencé par l’achat du tissu matelassé chez @mondialtissus . N’ayant pas de patron en tête j’en ai acheté un peu trop 🙄. Arrivée à la maison, je m’aperçois que ces couleurs ne me vont pas 😒. Bon vu la quantité achetée on va essayer d’en faire quelque chose quand même ! En fouillant sur Pinterest je trouve une inspi qui me plaît beaucoup 🤩 je sort les posca et la peinture textile et je customise les fleurs. On tient quelque chose ! Puis je trouve le patron qui convient le mieux à mon inspi: grandes poches, col qui remonte, coupe large et courte, la veste Flora de @brightsidefabricco 🙌🏼 Quelques modifications pour coller à mon projet, des jolies étiquettes de chez @casa.la.foret et @lapetitemaisoncouture et voici la veste des soirées d’été un peu plus fraîches. J’ai eu quelques galères suite à une pose de pressions qui a échouée et un premier shooting écourté, mais ça fait partie de l’aventure 😜 Alors ça valait la peine de persévérer ?? 😋 #florajacket #floraistwo
