LOGet Ready for the Fire Service – Join LBFD P.R.E.P.
The Long Beach Fire Department is proud to offer P.R.E.P. – the Prospective Recruit Exercise Program – a hands-on workout designed to challenge and inspire future Fire Recruit candidates.
This program gives participants exposure to the Long Beach Fire Department’s Physical Abilities Test and provides hands-on experience with real firefighting tools and equipment to help improve performance on the physical test.
Who:
Ages 18 and older
What to Expect:
Participants will gain direct experience with firefighting skills and tools, including:
• Ladder carries and raises
• Hose drags and pulls
• Attic crawl simulations
• Fire service terminology
• Mannequin rescue and carry techniques
• Hand tools and power tools
What to Wear:
This is a physically demanding workout, and your clothing may get dirty. Please come prepared in:
• Dark athletic bottoms
• A dark t-shirt (no tank tops or crop tops)
• Athletic or workout shoes
• No loose jewelry or facial piercings
What to Bring:
• Water or a sports drink for hydration
• Pen and paper for taking notes
• Leather work gloves
