This ‘knot’ won’t release… and here’s why That spot in your neck/shoulder isn’t a muscle knot. It’s an area where several muscles all attach into the same dense piece of tissue. Upper traps, levator scapulae, and deeper neck muscles all meet here to help control your head and shoulder position. Because this area is designed to handle load, not shorten and relax like a muscle, it naturally feels: • firm • ropey • “stuck” under your fingers That’s why pressing it harder doesn’t work. When you dig into it with thumbs, elbows, or massage guns, the nervous system reads it as a threat and turns the volume up, not down. The tissue tightens to protect itself, which is why it always comes back. The goal isn’t to “release” the spot directly. The goal is to take load away from it. That means: – calming the nervous system – reducing overwork in the upper traps and neck – restoring smooth neck and shoulder movement Once the muscles feeding into that area stop overworking, this spot no longer needs to brace… and it stops feeling like a knot. Pressure isn’t the answer. Better movement and better load management are. If you want to learn load management from me and get involved in my online coaching comment ‘physio’

Today I’m going to demonstrate our 2nd corrective stretch for addressing forward head posture: the Levator Scapula Stretch. If you notice that one side of your neck feels noticeably tighter than the other, concentrate on relieving tension in the tighter side. The aim is to achieve a sense of balance on both sides. If the tip of your nose looks heavier or more pulled downward, look to the side of the nose, not the nose itself. There’s an a levator muscle here that becomes overactive very easily. It tightens when we sneeze, grimace, squint, or hold facial tension. Over time, it shortens and keeps pulling. That constant pull can: • make the nose tip appear droopier • emphasize small folds next to the nose • create a heavy, tense look in the midface Not because of skin. Because of muscle tone. When you relax this area, the effect is subtle but noticeable. The folds soften. The base of the nose looks slimmer. The tip appears lighter and less pulled downward. This isn’t about lifting anything. It’s about releasing muscles that changes position of the skin. Go slow. Stay on the side of the muscle. Let tension melt instead of forcing change. Save this and come back to it when you do your neck or face work. It’s a small area that makes a bigger difference than most people expect.

#schmerzfrei #nacken #nackenverspannung #gesundheit

Levator Scap Release for Neck Pain ✨
(aka that stubborn muscle that makes your neck feel tight and tense) Try this simple self-release: 1️⃣ Bring your ear to your shoulder
2️⃣ Rotate your head away to expose the muscle
3️⃣ Draw a line between your shoulder blade and the side of your upper neck
4️⃣ Gently apply pressure along that line and slow it down Repeat 10 times and breathe into the stretch - you should feel that tension melt right out of your neck. 💆‍♂️💆‍♀️ #risetrain #neckpain #levatorscap

Comment REMINDERS and I’ll send you more short tips just like this!! I KNOW THIS LOOKS RIDICULOUS!!!!! but it actually works, I swear! When you repeat this move, you’re strengthening the tiny levator muscles that hold the tip of your nose up. And that matters because as we age, collagen + muscle tone decline, and gravity starts pulling the tip down. That small droop can make the whole face look heavier. Training those muscles keeps the tip lifted, the bridge looking straighter, and your whole profile more defined!! Do it rn with me and think of it like a workout for your nose instead of filler!!! #postureexercises #holisticmom #facialexercise

That “knot” along your shoulder blade isn’t a muscle problem — it’s often the spinal accessory nerve getting irritated and stuck, overworking your upper traps and levator scapulae and creating constant tension. We use targeted shockwave therapy to restore nerve glide, reduce adhesions, and shut down the source of the problem instead of chasing knots forever. 📍 Restore Soft Tissue & Spine — Old Tappan, New Jersey Comment “PAIN” if you’re tired of suffering. #backpain #backpainrelief #neckpain #neckpainrelief

Most people “stretch their neck”… but they don’t actually stretch the right tissue. If you feel tight near the side of your neck or top of your shoulder, it’s usually your upper trapezius and levator scapulae doing extra work all day especially with phone posture and desk posture. ✅ Here’s how to make this stretch actually work: Sit tall first Don’t stretch from a slouched spine. Sit upright so the neck muscles aren’t already compressed. Gently tilt your head to the opposite side Think: ear toward shoulder slow and controlled. No jerks. Depress the shoulder on the tight side This is the key. Keep that shoulder “heavy” and down. When the shoulder lifts, the stretch disappears. Breathe Slow nasal inhale. Long exhale. Your nervous system relaxes → the stretch feels deeper without forcing. ⏱ Hold 20–30 seconds, repeat 2–3 times per side. 📌 You should feel a comfortable pull not sharp pain, tingling, or numbness. If you get arm tingling, shooting pain, dizziness, or headaches, stop and get assessed it may not be “tightness”, it could be nerve irritation or joint sensitivity.
