CUThere are two persistent myths about Linux kernel hacking:
1️⃣ that building the Linux kernel takes ages and requires a powerful machine, and
2️⃣ that running and debugging the kernel to study it is insanely difficult and only for the chosen few.
In this reel, you can see a full kernel build — with Rust support and a Hello-World-style Rust module — taking less than three minutes on a machine with a 4-core 2.2 GHz CPU and 4 GB of RAM. After that, the kernel is launched under a debugger.
If you're interested in exploring kernel development further, I've been writing a series of articles on this topic in CDMAG — link in bio.
