KYWith the permission of his mom Madison, we want to share with you Bella’s life saving organ donor, Waylon Sam.
“I am Madison Loreli, the mother of Waylon Sam, Bella’s organ Donor. I want to start by saying I am so great-full for connecting with Bellas amazing family and getting to watch my son live on through Bella. It also amazes me to know that she has a brother named Waylon as well.
My son Waylon had a tragic accident the day after his 4th birthday. This put him in the ICU in London Ontario at Victoria hospital where he only had a few days on life support. I never, as a 24 year old mother, thought of organ donation, until a lady from Trillium sat down with me outside the hospital and made me aware of the positive things from the other side of organ donation . I knew if I could help one other parent who had an opportunity to have a future watching their child grow up & save a life, the answer for me was yes, without a doubt in my mind.
Making that choice saved Bella, giving her bowels, a 2y old boy with his liver, and a baby under one with his heart . As a mother who suffered the hardest thing in life, I get to watch my son live on through the children’s lives he saved.
Waylon was a happy 4 year old nonverbal boy with autism . He was surrounded by his protective older brother Cade & his younger brother Dallas. Waylon had an obsession with windmills. We created a Facebook page called Windmills for Waylon Sam, to remember & honour him.
I will always remember him when a tractor drives by or we see a windmill . I will smile every time I see photos of Bella. She is the light at the end of a dark tunnel with organ donation. And I will remind myself, my son’s heart is still beating!”
