HAI don’t often shoot macro photography, but I make an exception for bees. Years ago, I used to be afraid to get close, but now I can spend hours among them in the spring, watching and photographing as they go about their work. Honeybees are generally not aggressive when left undisturbed, and studies show they even display simple forms of learning and memory — which makes observing them all the more fascinating. In some of these photos, you can see the large clumps of pollen building up on its hind legs in specialized structures called pollen baskets (corbiculae).

REPrussian blue formation in a water droplet 🌊💙
The iron(II) crystal had partially oxidized in air, creating a mix containing iron(III) ions. It’s this oxidized "contaminant" that reacts immediately with the ferrocyanide to precipitate this vivid dark blue.
