THYour body language is talking before your confidence ever does 👀🧠
This side-by-side is a perfect example of something sport psychology has shown for years:
👉 How you carry yourself changes how confident you feel, not the other way around.
When your shoulders drop, eyes drift, and energy pulls inward, your brain reads that as:
“Uh oh… something’s wrong.”
Cue more doubt. More hesitation. More spiraling 😵💫
But when your posture stays tall, your movements stay intentional, and you reset physically after mistakes, your brain gets a totally different message:
“I’m still in this.”
“I can handle this.”
“Next play.” 💪
This is called embodied cognition:
Your body and brain are constantly sending each other signals.
So no, confidence doesn’t start in your head alone.
It starts with what you do with your body after mistakes.
And here’s the part most athletes don’t realize…
Your body language isn’t just talking to you.
It’s talking to coaches too 👀
Coaches are constantly reading:
• posture after mistakes
• energy between points
• how fast you reset
• whether you look prepared or overwhelmed
That body language often decides:
– who stays in
– who sits
– and who looks “ready” for the next level
College coaches don’t recruit perfection. They recruit athletes who look composed, resilient, and coachable under pressure.
The good news?
Body language is a SKILL.
And skills can be trained 😌
That’s exactly what we work on inside Next Level Confidence — teaching athletes how to use posture, movement, and reset routines to create confidence instead of waiting for it to show up.
If you’re ready to stop letting one mistake turn into five,
💬 comment “NLC” and I’ll send you the details.
