This was a full microlink install on my real hair… no braids, no cornrows.
The only difference? I didn’t use traditional microlink weft hair… I used feather crochet human hair from YWIGS.
For this look I used:
• 5 bundles
• 14” body wave
• Pre-separated (no cutting needed)
• Reusable hair
@ywigs_official
Lightweight, natural movement, and super versatile.
⸻
Who microlinks are best for:
• Medium to thick density hair
• Healthy strands with strong roots
• Clients committed to maintenance
⚠️ If your hair is fine, fragile, or prone to shedding, you have to be careful with this method. Tension + improper maintenance can lead to breakage.
⸻
The REAL maintenance (this is where most people go wrong):
• No heavy oils or grease at the root … it will cause the beads to slip
• Condition mid-length to ends only … keep product away from the links
• Wash gently … no rough scrubbing
• Detangle before washing (especially for curly textures)
• Be careful with curly natural hair … dry detangling will cause breakage
• Keep up with maintenance every 4–6 weeks
• Always dry your roots … wet links = slipping + tangling
And please understand…
👉🏽 This is NOT a “set it and forget it” protective style
👉🏽 Your natural hair still requires consistent care

I break down the install, technique, and what to expect in my YouTube tutorial.
