Look who I got to catch up with Sal of @Mind Pump Was inspired to do more when it comes to strength training. While I have been lifting 3-4 days a week alternating full body with upper body and lower body, I was not as focused on strength. Got in an upper body workout and as I normally don’t have access to a leg press: 3 sets of 10 presses. Wowza have I grown weak. I can normally press 230 lbs plus! Down to 190. But was reassured that while it may take 6 months to gain muscle that if you lose it you can regain it much quicker. Thrilled that we are in the talks to bring me onto their podcast to dish on the genetics of recovery soon. Do you like strength training? If so how much do you do? · You will decrease BMR if you do cardio as a primary form of exercise · To maintain muscle mass all you need is 1 session every 2 weeks BUT do more! · Muscle gain is the top way to improve insulin sensitivity· Strength training increases androgen (aka testosterone) receptors· Practice Lifts: don’t focus on the burn sweat or soreness· Even 1 day a week of strength training had profound benefits but you should be active most days!· You should feel good NOT bad after a strength session. If you were really sore you worked out too hard. · Compound lifts use more than one joint: squatting, overhead pressing, deadlift and should be PRIORITIZED�#LivingLongerAndStronger#FabulousAtAnyAge#FabulousNotFatigued#Energized#FeelFantasticForever
