FEA bull moose, one of the largest and most imposing animals in the northern wilderness, is surprisingly agile and capable of reaching speeds of up to 35 miles per hour (56 km/h). This incredible burst of speed is typically reserved for situations where the moose feels threatened, whether by predators like wolves or bears, or when defending its territory during the rut. Despite their massive size—standing up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall at the shoulder and weighing over 1,000 pounds (450 kg)—their long legs and powerful muscles allow them to cover rough terrain, including dense forests and marshy ground, with astonishing ease.
