SCBefore launch, both the truck and the person are already moving forward at 80 km/h relative to the ground. When the person is launched backward at 80 km/h from the truck, that speed is measured relative to the truck itself.
From the ground’s perspective:
80 km/h forward − 80 km/h backward = 0 km/h
So for a brief moment, the person appears to come to a complete stop relative to the road before gravity takes over.
Inside the truck, observers see the person shoot backward at high speed. But to someone standing still outside, the forward motion has simply been canceled by an equal backward push.
This happens because motion is always relative, velocities add and subtract depending on the frame of reference.
