TSOpinions on Marine Security Guard (MSG)?
I think this is one of the most HIDDEN 💎 of the Marine Corps. The amount of doors that open to you and opportunities that exist are outbid this world. So many people don’t know about it so let’s learn something.
What Do Marine Security Guards Do?
MSGs serve throughout the world to ensure the safety of Diplomatic Missions to conduct diplomacy abroad in a safe environment. MSGs prepare to execute plans for the protection of the mission and its personnel as directed by the Chief of Mission or Principal Officer through the Regional Security Officer.
The mission of the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group is to screen, train, assign, and ensure operational readiness, administration, logistical support and discipline of Marines and to provide Marines for duty as MSGs at designated U.S. diplomatic missions in support of the Department of State in the protection of personnel, classified material, and U.S. property.
Overall, if you’re a fleet Marine of ANY RANK, go talk to your career planner and see if you’re eligible for MSG duty.
If so, I say go for it! You have nothing to lose!
