THI started January of 2023 off with no income because I felt God was leading me to reject the one project I was offered.
Why? Because the budget was below the new pricing rates I set for myself as an artist in 2023. I was so scared to reject the brand despite what the Lord was clearly leading me to do.
I couldn’t help but wonder “What will the rest of my year look like if I’m starting the first month off without a single dollar?” and “Was the Lord actually calling me to be an artist?”
I knew that if I accepted the project which was below my new rate, I would be willing to settle for the remainder of the year. I understood the standard I set would impact what I was willing to accept.
The day I was praying over the situation, I was led to Psalm 37:25 - “I was young and now so am old, yet so have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread”
That was confirmation that despite what felt like a rough and dry patch, I had to trust that Jesus would provide for me in due season.
I prayed that God would honor my obedience and boy did He! This entire year has been evidence of what comes when I choose to trust him and do what he tells me rather than allowing fear to cause me to lean on my own understanding.
I’m excited to walk into 2024, believing that my God is a provider even when it seems as though I have no provision and knowing that my obedience is always better than my sacrifice.
