8 weeks ago we celebrated a milestone - our 100th Munro! It's a big deal for every Munro bagger, reaching 3 digits on the Munro count! We didn't know at the time this was going to be our last hike for long months to come... ❤️🩹
It's been over 8 weeks and we miss mountains so much 💔 For most people, winter is a time for cosy nights in, for us this is the best hiking season! It's the time for most stunning views of peaks covered in snow ❄️, early golden sunsets, challenging weather conditions 🥶 and incredible sense of achievement...as the most of Scottish Munros are now covered in snow, we are incredibly sad to be missing out on favourite adventures 😔.
Now life is trying us again with different type of adventure ❤️🩹
Our focus is now on the recovery of our bravest hiker 🐾 we are remaining hopeful we can reach the summits together again 🥾🐾

This is a pretty popular Munro, and for good reason! With 730m elevation gain it’s a nice & straightforward with a well-maintained path that gives a clear route the whole way 🙌🏻
PLUS it’s only 2hrs drive from edin!!
The first time we climbed it, it was a total nae views summit, so it was a real treat to have views and a little bit of an inversion! Ofc the real treat for the boys was their @forthglade sausages 😂😂

EX📌 Save this for your next trip to Scotland. It might just be the most scenic Corbett of all. These are the views from Beinn Dàmh. It’s a stunning walk that ends with an incredible 360 vista, with Liatach and Beinn Alligin towering above Loch Torridon in the distance. On a clear day you can even see all the way to the Isle of Skye. One I’d happily do again and plan to very soon 😄 #scotland #torridon #munro #corbett #mountains #winter

This hike begins at our Ranger Office at Morvich Farm, just off the A87.
The route will see you climb up the glen, zig-zagging past cairns, corries, waterfalls and sweeping plateaus, finishing with a spectacular view of Loch a Bhealaich.
Beinn Fhada is a big Munro – before heading out into the hills, check the weather from a reliable source; make sure you have good equipment including food, water, a torch, compass and a safety kit; and learn how to properly navigate using a map and compass.

JUWhat it's like to hike the highest peak in the UK, Ben Nevis. I felt SO accomplished to have conquered this munro!
A few things about Ben Nevis:
- Located in Fort William, the Scottish Highlands
- The summit is 4413 feet above sea level
- It's the highest land in any direction for 739km
Now, about hiking Ben Nevis...
- 17km hike to the top and back
- Takes 6 - 9 hours so don't leave too late in the day (I did it in 7 hours, slow and steady)
- The beginning path is called "heart attack hill" but it isn't quite as bad as it sounds!
- After the halfway point, there are 9 zig-zags in total up the mountain
- Expect to see nothing at the top unless it is an exceptionally clear day, but those are rare here!
What to wear...
- LAYERS: it was warm near the bottom but at the top, I needed a fleece, a waterproof jacket, waterproof pants, a hat, gloves... it got really cold!
- Waterproof hiking boots but also really durable boots with a good tread on them: I was slipping on rocks going back down and fell a few times since my boots were good enough for hiking in Canada but not Scotland!
- Hiking poles will definitely help keep you stable and use a little less energy
Bring plenty of snacks/food and water.
If you reach the halfway point and realize that you still have 3/4 of the hike to go (up the mountain and all the way back down), there is another trail you can take that leads back into town.
This is important as sometimes the conditions can get really treacherous and it becomes really unsafe to do this hike.
But I did it and so can you! I'm SO grateful to my guide, John Walker (yes that is actually his name) for walking alongside me for most of the way and making sure I completed this hike safely (and lending me a pair of gloves!).
This hike was part of the Ontario Hiking group trip to Scotland in the fall. This year, we're traveling to the Amalfi Coast (much different weather & hiking there!). We only have 2 spots left, send me a DM if you'd like more information!!
