Riverside County Sheriff resources immediately responded. Inclement weather limited aviation resources. SAR teams were able to reach the victims and setup a series of rope systems to rescue the hikers. On Sunday, Riverside County Sheriff initiated a mutual aid request through the California Office of Emergency Services Law Enforcement Branch. SAR teams from San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino counties were mission tasked for the incident. On Sunday evening, the teams encountered a storm, requiring them to shelter in place with the victims. Monday saw cooperative weather, allowing two rescue helicopters to hoist both victims, and transport them to a trauma center for care.
