When your head goes up, your hips go down, and you end up fighting the water instead of moving through it. If you want to stay efficient, you need to master the “One Eye, One Ear” rule: The Sweet Spot: Keep one eye and one ear under the surface while you inhale—you only need a tiny pocket of air to breathe. Stay in Line: Keep your head aligned with your spine at all times to maintain a hydrodynamic profile. Reach First: Ensure you hit full extension with your lead arm before you even think about rotating for air. Head First: Rotate your head back into the water immediately after the breath, and the rest of your stroke will follow. Mastering this technique is the fastest way to reduce drag and start dropping time in 2026.
