WTNET ZERO OR INDUSTRIAL SUICIDE?
Britain produces around 1% of global #carbon emissions. So, what happens if the UK drives its #emissions to zero while crippling its own economy?
Commentator and podcaster Konstantin Kisin breaks down the hard numbers behind #netzero and asks the question many politicians avoid: what are we actually achieving?
The promise was that Britain would “lead by example” — shutting down industry, driving up energy prices, and outsourcing manufacturing to countries like China, where the same products are made dirtier, then shipped back using the most polluting fuels imaginable.
The result?
• The highest industrial electricity prices in the developed world
• A collapsing manufacturing base
• Rising household energy bills
• Zero evidence the rest of the world is following our lead
Kisin argues that Net Zero and prosperity are not compatible. You cannot build a strong economy while deliberately making energy scarce and expensive. Investing in cleaner technology makes sense — but the priority must be cheap, reliable, abundant energy so industry can survive, and people aren’t punished with sky-high bills.
This isn’t about denying climate change. It’s about-facing reality.
Because sacrificing your economy for a 1% reduction isn’t leadership — its policy driven by ideology, not outcomes.
