GOThis past month Hashem has blessed me with clarity. Because maybe I would’ve looked at myself. My choices. My dress. Maybe I would have always attributed it to a different person. A moment in time. Someone outside of me. But now- I know what it feels like to feel distant. To feel misaligned. And I never want to feel that way again. Not because of another person. But because of me. Over Shabbat a lot of men gave me their solicited and unsolicited opinions about my page. One told me aggressively he had to unfollow bc I’m “duplicitous.” Another asked how I post so much about my personal life. Another approached me to say he was a fan. The truth is- I don’t do it for the men. Or their opinions. I do it for the women. That like me- fall down. And then feel the need to tell everyone. To maybe let that define them in their shame. Who maybe like me chase after people who are so unkind to them- it’s illogical. Who like me maybe think they’re defining themselves by the men in their life only to discover they were the main character all along. You are the author of your story. You are not your mistakes. Or brief moments in time. Or the men that give you their opinion as if they own you. Only Hashem does. And He loves you unconditionally. No matter what you wear or what you say or who you touch. THI’m excited to finally share what I’ve been working on.
Over the next few months, I’ll be having a series of conversations with a diverse array of folx about my journey from religious Zionism to anti-Zionism, queerness, neurodivergence, the process of writing a novel, and how all of these things are connected. (The novel follows the burgeoning queer relationship between a Jew and a Palestinian, so yes, the threads really do connect.)

THI apologize to Hebrew speakers in advance. I was challenging myself with saying new grammatical constructs to push my boundaries and tell a longer story. But at least it was a nice story with a surprising twist.
For my English speakers, I met a wonderful Palestinian teacher who was way nicer to me than an individual from an earlier story.
