Day 2 of not rowing across the Atlantic Ocean! Every day at sea I made a video and said “I’m rowing across the Atlantic Ocean by myself” but I had the world’s BEST crew. A HUGE thank you to everyone who sponsored the row, especially @redfishlakelodge @perfectamino and the Lexington High Class of 1984 The entire team @worlds.toughest.row made this journey possible. From getting to the start line, managing life at sea and then arriving in Antigua, I could not be more grateful for their support. There is a lot that happens behind the scenes in ocean rowing and their help from day 1 was outstanding. @rannochadventure, Lizzie, and the entire team at Rannoch helped me become an ocean rower having never stepped foot on a row boat when I decided to take on the Atlantic. Any success I had came from training with the best and rowing an incredible boat that took very good care of me. @oceanready Provided exceptional programming as I trained at the gym. I started as a complete beginner; the strength training prepared me so well for life on the Atlantic and I feel completely fine having now arrived in Antigua. @lightshipatlantic THANK YOU for adjusting my autohelm settings. I’m very grateful to not have capsized ❤️ @justonemorerow.atlantic it was so freaking amazing to have rowed the same year. The world is a better place when women do sports. My mom and dad ❤️ for handling the worst storms with grace and kindness. I love you so much. And YOU!!!! I could have never expected this journey would resonate with so many people. Thank you for supporting such a ridiculous, improbable endeavor. #worldstoughestrow

This shocks a lot of people! And we can understand why. Rowing 8000+ miles across the Pacific Ocean, non-stop and unsupported, without a life jacket doesn’t sound like it makes much sense. But here’s the reason: we’re clipped onto the boat at all times, and if it were to capsize, a life jacket could actually become a hazard and something else to get tangled in. That doesn’t mean they’re not important though! If we ever had to get into the life raft or be rescued, we’d definitely be wearing our life jackets. A powerful reminder of just how wild, remote and spectacular the Atlantic can be. These are the moments our teams will remember for a lifetime. Video captured mid-ocean, with no filters - just nature doing its thing.👏 While unforgettable, the encounter was also genuinely frightening. As this whale came so close to the boat, the team briefly feared capsizing. A moment where the crossing could have ended in seconds.
