WHWhen we got married, we made a pretty unconventional decision - To stay in a long-distance relationship even after marriage ✈️💍
Every time we tell people, “I work in Bangkok, and he has his commitments in Chennai,” the first question we get is: “Then what’s the point of getting married if you’re not living together?” 😳
Well, for us, marriage doesn’t mean having to be in the same place 24/7. I’ve worked really hard to build my career in Bangkok, even before I met him, so why would I suddenly give it all up just because I got married? 💼✨ And at the same time, he’s worked just as hard to build his life in Chennai - I would never expect him to drop everything and move for me either 🫠
So we make it work our way. Sometimes I fly to Chennai to be with him and my family, sometimes he comes to Bangkok to stay with me for weeks. And if we can’t meet in either city, we just pick a new place on the map and meet there instead 🗺️❤️
Will this work forever? Who knows 🤔 But for now, it works for us. We don’t believe marriage means giving up on your individual dreams. We believe in growing together and growing as individuals. Because if one of us had to sacrifice everything, we’d probably end up resenting it later 🫣
✨ And if you’re reading this wondering if you should follow the path that everyone expects you to take or the one that actually makes sense for you - I hope this is your sign to choose yourself 💫
We also use a BUNCH of apps to make our LDR work, you can DM us if you need them 🥹🩷
