FOThe fact that common foods have the potential to take the life of my child is completely outrageous. But sadly, a fact of our life. It’s why trusting someone else (a restaurant for example) has felt very unsafe for most of my son’s young life.
Gaining tolerance to his allergens through treatment (he does @food.allergy.institute TIP) has changed our whole lives. We can now enjoy some convenience and spontaneity that felt impossible before.
Treatment has never been easy and we’ve had a few setbacks (most recently a significant one), but I’m here to say I’d do it all again.
TIP is not the answer for everyone. It’s not the most affordable or most accessible. But OIT programs like the one my younger son is now doing are amazing too and can you back to restaurants & reduce anxieties around food. He may even get to free eating! (He goes to @aspireallergy !)
Treatments like Xolair by @genentech are now shown to drastically improve lives by giving you bite size protection from your allergens.
All of this to say, there’s hope. My page has been a little down in the dumps lately because February has been 😵💫for my fam. But today, I’m offering hope. And joy ! I mean look at his face at these restaurants ♥️
