SRSAVE THIS REEL FOR YOUR 🇬🇪 TRIP!🫶🏻✨
If you only visit one market in Tbilisi, let it be this one. Not for the souvenirs, but for the stories.
A market of memories - yes, that’s what it is. Laid out under the Georgian sun, come summer, spring, autumn or even sometimes in winter, the Dry Bridge Flea Market has been around since before I was born!
From Soviet medals to hand-painted ceramics, this Market in Tbilisi is a living archive of stories. I had randomly marked it on my Maps and wasn’t sure if I’ll end up visiting. However, the weather was beautiful and it was day 3 in Tbilisi when I decided to walk 27 minutes from Old Town to the bridge and see what the market looks like. I had zero expectations but I left feeling pleased with myself for coming here.
✨ This place may not be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s not posh, not touristy. Not everyone likes to or has the patience to sort through each and every stall to look for a piece they’ll end up picking up. Hence, I’ve mentioned, it’s specifically for collectors. Collectors of weird items and old, of cutlery and home decor pieces, old cameras (working and non working), silver and brass antiques- you’re essentially invited to have a peek into someone’s personal collection and pay for a piece if you like.
✨ Please don’t bargain like your life depends on it. Not here. Eventually, they’ll simply start getting angrier with tourists if you behave improperly so just don’t be irritating. People price things very decently, at least presently. Maximum you can try and bargain by a few Laris if you’re picking up more than a piece but please don’t insist too hard. You’ll understand better once you visit why I’m saying so. 🫶🏻
✨ You’ll definitely end up spending a few hours here so come prepared.
