JEThese might sound like odd rules…
but they’re the reason I’m no longer a survival mode mom. Trust me - SAVE this list!
✨ When I feel myself getting snappy, I hum, sigh loudly, or shake out my arms. Regulation first!
✨ When everything feels urgent, I sit down on purpose and slow my movements.Rushing tells my body we’re in danger. We’re not.
✨ I don’t skip meals and then wonder why I’m moody.
Low blood sugar looks like anger, impatience, and overwhelm. Food is nervous system support. Eat first.
Bad moods are often unmet physical needs.
✨I don’t hold myself to pre-mom standards.
I’m not the same person and that’s allowed.
Different season. Different capacity.
✨ I don’t rush mornings on purpose.
Starting the day in chaos sets the tone for everything that follows. My nervous system needs a soft launch.
✨ I pause before saying yes… even to small things.
Automatic yeses drain my capacity fast. This protects my energy.
✨I eat before I help anyone else. Being nourished makes me a better mom.
✨ I don’t push through exhaustion just to finish.
Finishing isn’t worth the crash that follows. Rest is how I break the burnout cycle.
✨ If I feel ragey, I move my body.
Stored stress needs physical release, not suppression.
✨ I go to bed by 9:30/10pm.
Because tired moms aren’t patient or kind…
and sleep is non-negotiable nervous system care.
✨I don’t ask “what’s wrong with me?” I ask, “What do I need right now?” Very different nervous system response.
✨I stop scrolling when I feel more behind than inspired. Comparison sends my nervous system into threat.
✨ I lower the bar on hard days without guilt.
Bare minimum is enough when you’re burnt out.
✨And I let myself feel annoyed without making it mean anything about me. Feelings are signals, not character flaws.
These rules aren’t about doing more.
They’re about supporting a nervous system that’s been carrying too much for too long.
